Brighton & Hove Archaeological Society

I’m a member of Brighton & Hove Archaeological Society.

If you are into archaeology or local history, take a look at their website, they may have an event on that interests you: www.britghtonarch.org.uk

The Society will be digging this year, investigating an Iron Age enclosure found in 2011. The upper section of the ditches were used as a rubbish dump in the 2nd and 3rd centuries. We will be excavating more of the ditches, and an adjacent trackway, as well as looking for roundhouses associated with the settlement.

The dig begins on Saturday 7th April and will continue until the end of October. We work Saturdays and Wednesdays and you have to be a member of the Society to be covered by our insurance £12 full, £6 student membership. No experience is required as training will be given, plus there is the opportunity to learn and try out any archaeological techniques within our resources. The minimum age is 16 years old.
